Spotify Campaign Kit - Everything You Need To Know

Spotify has safely monopolized the streaming market and how! With its annual marketing campaigns like Spotify Wrapped and highly utilized Spotify For Artists feature, the streaming company is set to make 2024 another massively successful year with its latest set of tools that they call, Spotify Campaign Kit.

In this article, we have tried to answer a few questions:

  1. What is a Spotify Campaign Kit?

  2. What are the tools available?

  3. Updates and Other Tools

  4. Is Campaign Kit Worth it?

What is a Spotify Campaign Kit?

Consider the Spotify Campaign Kit as a one-stop shop for an artist's marketing needs within Spotify. Campaign Kit, the website name, is just like an EPK for a musician, there are several features available under a single banner, of sorts.

Playlist contributions, Marquee, Showcase, and the Discovery Mode have all been seen before. To make things considerably easier, all of these features were created for artists. The purpose of the new Campaign Kit is to help coordinate the marketing campaign between the artist and his or her team. This means that the team and the artist will have access to the kit.

The methods are intended for solo and collaborative use by artists and their teams. According to Spotify, they intend to use the Campaign Kit website as a teaching tool, supplying resources and instructions for utilizing their equipment.

Pssst…come here: There is speculation that on January 24, 2024, Spotify is offering a Masterclass on Campaign Kits. Make sure you keep an eye out for that!

What are the tools available?

The toolkit will comprise all the previously introduced features in the Spotify For Artists tab such as the Discovery Mode, Marquee Ads, and so on. But it will also include the newer tools that Spotify intends to introduce in the upcoming years. Every tool is made to assist you in connecting with suitable listeners, encouraging interaction during music listening, and tracking the effects on listener participation and streaming. Each tool caters to building your own niche audience, and that's a win, not only for the artist but also the listener, because these tools will help the listener engage with new tracks from the genre and mood of music they already like.

Pssst…come here: Spotify has asserted that you can get the best results when these tools are used together. That also explains why there was a need to introduce a collection space, a ‘kit,’ for such tools.

Playlist Pitching

Sharing your new music with the editors behind playlists like Rap Caviar, Today's Top Hits, and Fresh Finds, Discovery Weekly, is made simpler with playlist pitching. All artists can submit upcoming, unreleased songs to Spotify's editors for consideration on playlists; the submission process is completely free. Spotify playlisting is more flexible now.

Pssst..come here: Previously, getting on these editorial playlists of Spotify would look like a distant dream (yes, we know), but by making this tool not only accessible but also FREE, Spotify is making the streaming platform more open to more independent musicians and making the streaming ecosystem more playlist friendly. Here’s something interesting, you can not only get on these playlists, but also on other independently curated playlists on Spotify, that have a massive listening! We also have our submission platform and a bunch of Spotify curators in our network that can help you generate a massive number of streams, so feel free to submit your music to us :)

The Discovery Mode

With no up-front costs, Discovery Mode can improve your music's reach on customized playlists. Choose the songs that are most important to you, and Spotify will utilize that signal to assist you in discovering new listeners who will enjoy them. The major advantage in this is that you, the artist, are placed in the driver’s seat - you will have all the control, right from the song selection which you want the limelight for, to the total duration of the campaign. You make all the decisions and Spotify will include that in its algorithm. Pretty simple, eh?

Marquee Ads

When users launch the app, Marquee ads offer a full-screen, sponsored recommendation of your latest release, grabbing their complete attention. Someone who's listening can choose to save or go straight to your latest release by clicking on a marquee, allowing them to concentrate on your music.

It’s almost like presenting someone searching for earphones, an ad for headphones - just what the listener may look for next, making your music the ultimate landing page on their Spotify homepage.

Showcase

With Showcase, the newest sponsored recommendation, you can advertise your music to potential listeners at any time. Thousands of listeners visit Spotify's Home to find what to listen to, and Showcase features a mobile banner at the top of the page. For any occasion, such as when your album's birthday is approaching, your song is going viral, or you're generating interest in a tour, you can highlight both new releases and songs from your archive.

Spotify cited many case studies to better sell their Campaign Kit. One of them was the artist, thuy. Through the usage of Campaign Kit across several releases, independent R&B musician thuy and her crew were able to increase her monthly active listener base by over 300%. Before her debut EP, they began by using Discovery Mode to expand her fan base. They took advantage of the momentum created by her release to release Marquee, aiming to win over light and moderate listeners and win them over as new fans. With 200,000 user playlist additions, the campaigns enabled Thuy to connect with fans in more than 100 nations.

Updates and Other Tools

Yes! Spotify has asserted that its goal with Campaign Kit is to give musicians the best possible platform to connect with listeners and win over devoted followers. They announced that they will be launching new tools in the upcoming weeks to assist more musicians in connecting with more listeners at the ideal musical moments. One of them is full freedom or the ability to customize or personalize marquee ads and more options to choose from, to do so.

Pssst…come here: Spotify also intends to include the Discovery Mode algorithm in the Daily Mixes too! You may have noticed that these mixes of yours often don't have new music or recommended songs added to them, they are usually a mix of songs you listen to often. So if the Discovery Mode is incorporated into Daily mixes, something that users often rely on on a day-to-day basis of listening, then it will dramatically help artists reach new listeners and potential fans! If this does happen, then no sooner, Discovery Mode will likely be available on artist, genre, and mood mixes as well, which will be a great move for upcoming musicians using the tool.

Spotify Campaign Kit includes these 4 tools mentioned above but you'll find so much more under your Spotify for Artist Tab:

Canvas

Think of this as a motion teaser or motion picture of your album artwork. You can include this looping graphic in each of your Spotify releases so that it plays while users listen. According to Spotify, Canvas can pique people’s interest, somehow compelling them to pay attention. When you or a listener broadcasts the song from the Spotify app on Instagram Stories, your Canvas will spin against the backdrop of the social media platform.

Clips

Think of this as Spotify’s own introduction of Reels. Spotify unveiled Clips following Instagram's introduction of Reels, a feature akin to TikTok videos. This is a jackpot movie, considering how short visual content is thriving today. What then must you do? To increase listeners to your profile, you may easily create a 30-second video of yourself discussing, promoting, and sharing tales from your music. This lets your new listeners get to know you and your music better and interact with it often, which accelerates the growth of a lifelong fan base.

Artist Pick

With this feature, you may display everything that matters most to you at the top of your artist page, including your most recent release, tour dates, merchandise, a playlist you created or adore, a podcast episode, an image, and a message to your fans. You can modify your pick as frequently as you'd like, but it will remain at the top of your artist profile for a maximum of two weeks. It's like drawing attention to those that land on your profile, on your top priorities, your likes and dislikes, and so on - helps the user recognize what's the latest that is happening with you in the music scene and how they could know you better, as a musician on Spotify.

Merchandise

Artists and their teams can now manage inventory, create virtual merch tables on Spotify, and choose which products should be promoted on their artist profiles, all because of the collaboration between Shopify and Spotify. You can make the most of your release moments by releasing new merchandise as soon as it becomes available, allowing fans to support and purchase your music almost immediately.

Ticketing

If you're using one of Spotify's ticketing partners—Ticketmaster, AXS, DICE, Eventbrite, See Tickets, and more—for your in-person or online events, they will show up directly in the On Tour section of your profile (which is customized to the area), in fan-specific emails, and in our Live Events Feed, making it simple for listeners to purchase tickets while they're listening.

Fundraising

Have you ever landed on an artist page on Spotify and seen the Donate option? Spotify provided a section for users to donate to their favorite artists. With payment partners like Cash App, GoFundMe, PayPal.me, and others, you can raise money directly from your artist profile for yourself, your band, your crew, or a cause you care about due to this unique fundraising feature, Fan Support. One week, you can welcome fan tips, and the next, you can mobilize them for a worldwide cause. Note that every transaction happens on independent fundraising sites; Spotify does not receive a portion of the proceeds. So there's zero commission fee.

Countdown pages

With Countdown Pages, your followers may pre-order your latest line of merchandise, see video clips you share with them, pre-save your much-anticipated release, get a preview of the track list, and monitor the countdown until the album is available online. Countdown pages basically help build a certain sense of excitement and anticipation amongst your listeners and make them engage with your content and your music even more.
